Benefits

MURTA

Consuming this tasty little Patagonian berry favors the body's resistance to disease, regulating blood circulation and helping healing. In addition, its flavor, color and aroma make it an excellent culinary ingredient for sweet or savory preparations.

Murta, murtilla, or scientifically called Ugni molinae,  is a species of aromatic Myrthaceae that grows on the Chilean Pacific coast and in the pre-Andean mountains of southern Chile. This wild perennial shrub is widely used in folk medicine by indigenous peoples, including the Mapuche, Puelche and Pehuenche cultures, for the treatment of various ailments, such as diarrhea, ulcers, fever, inflammations and migraines.

Scientific interest in this native shrub has recently emerged, and since then, the chemical composition of this plant, both fruit and leaf, and potential new applications of its compounds ( Hauser, Peñaloza, Rodriguez, Guarda, & Galotto) has been studied. , 2014; Jofré et al., 2016; Junqueira-Gonçalves et al., 2015; Peña-Cerda et al., 2017; Rubilar et al., 2011; Suwalsky et al., 2007 )

The new applications of dried fruit and leaves, natural

or as an extract, in  functional foods  , nutraceuticals  and cosmetics is growing thanks to their antimicrobial,

antioxidant and anti-tyrosinase capabilities.

OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION

Organic

This means that the fields where Murta grows are clean of contaminants, and the entire  chain of production adheres to strict standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and optimal care of the fruit.

Freeze-Drying

This is the only dehydration process  that keeps all the properties of the berry intact. There is no better way to ensure you get all the best qualities of the Murta you consume!

Chilean soil is full of volcanic nutrients, and its flora is part of a botanical "island" separated from rest of the world by the country's unique geography. To the North, the world's most arid desert; to the South, the icy Patagonia; the East, the Andes mountains; the West, the Pacific Ocean.

Isla Natura's philosophy is to create products in the same rural areas where the raw materials come from, in order to have a positive impact on local economy as well as minimize our ecological footprint by not needing to transport fresh fruit long distances. We want locals to care about fruit production sans chemical fertilizers, giving them an extra source of income as well as healthy, pesticide-free food.
